Default Black "lump" on the trunk

I have a 97 civic and there is a black lump in the middle of the trunk on top. It looks like an antenna of some sort? Does anyone know what it is? There is already an radio antenna in the front of the car by the windshield.

That is indeed a satellite radio antenna. Do you have an aftermarket head unit?

No, the radio is not a satellite one. Not anymore anyways. I hope it didn't damage the paint because I want to take it off.

thats one of the older style xm antennas. Unfortunately they used double sided tape to be held in place. You should be able to take it off without damaging the paint as long as you are careful, take your time, and don't just rip it off. Won't be any worse than de-badging the trunk. Then just clean off any remaining adhesive with goo-gone or goof off. The only thing that may suck is that the paint around the antenna may have faded where as under the antenna did not.
