Default 89 Civic SI BRAKE LIGHTS WONT TURN OFF

Dont know what to do! My brake lights wont turn off. Someone told me its probly my "brake light switch". Does anyone know how to tell if the brake light swith is broken? Does anyone have pics of how it should look under there? Does anyone know of a good diagram or site explaining how to change out the brake light switch?? Any help would be great.

Check around your brake pedal. You really have to stick your head under the dash to see it. Sometimes the plunger get stuck.

The switch is near the top of the brake pedal lever. When the brakes are released, the lever should push the button on the end of the switch all the way in. You really can't tell much about an electrical part just by looking at it. If the lever is pushing the button in and the brake lights go out when you unplug the switch, conclude that the switch is bad and replace it.

I have an 88 and i had the same problem....

For me there was some kind of bolt in the break pedal that would press down the switch that fell out so the button was not getting pressed in...I simply just put another bolt that i had that fit in there and it fixed the problem
