I recently drove back home to southern Indiana from Chicago. I have a 2003 civic hybrid with 220,000! At the end of the trip I averaged 57 mpg. The picture is how it started. I took the picture at 63.2 mpg, I was 57 miles after my fillup after we crossed the state line. I am consistently around 48 mpg normally.

I have gotten as much as 39 mpg on a road trip in the winter. In Florida where I live though, the combo of high temps, AC running constantly and stop and go conspire to keep our mileage low, for a Civic.

Default Pretty good numbers

Summer. 32 around town. 38 highway

Cold weather 26 / 34

Driving the limit , coasting to an upcoming red light or stop sign. No hard driving. Do occasionally use my remote start to warm it up when it's COLD out.

1 month ago we upgraded to a 2007 Civic EX with 94,000 miles. I replaced the oil and filter, air filter, and spark plugs and added some lucas to the tranny the day we brought it home. In that 1 month we have driven over 3,000 miles (thanksgiving and all) Our first two tanks we got about 33.5 mpg. On our trip back from Tampa yesterday, I filled up with mid grade and rode with the windows and sunroof cracked open (no A/C) and we got 35.4 on one tank and 35.6 on the other!
New question and maybe worthy of a new thread: Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Iridium plugs are worth the extra money? I am currently running Bosch Platimum Plus 2 plugs like I put in all my vehicles and the car seems to run great. The guy at the autoparts store insisted that I buy NGK iridiums at $15 a piece!! Why on earth would I want to spend $60 on a set of SPARK PLUGS??
