did you mean the b18b or is b16b acurate? and does the rest of that statement apply to all b series or just the gsr, type-r? because that is good stuff to know, gives a whole different insight on swap choices... future reference..
o.k. you cannot mean the b18 b's, redline is around 6 something.... ?

The thing about both the C5 and the B16B engines is that they are both internaly balanced from the factory and both have a factory port and polish on the exhaust and a porting job on the intake side of the head.

The b16B like said above is the Civic Type R engine from the 6th gen civic's, the B18C5 aka ITR is the Integra Type R engine, the B18B is a Integra LS engine that is like 140hp and 133 tq, the B18B is a damn good engine to swap and boost on a budget just dont look to be able to rev the **** out of it.

well like MD has said countless times before...b16's are almost perfectly balanced from the factory and anything you do to change it will destroy that balance.

I believe the GSR head is capable of more power than the type r head due to a slight differnce in the shape of the internal combustion chamber. Im not too sure, someone tried to explain this in detail to me but i got lost half way as was massively hungover at the time.

but in proof, teg type r owners in the uk are getting a p&p GSR head and swaping their type r internals into it, or upgraded internals.

Im sure someone could clarify this, further though.

the gsr head has big quench pads in it that rasie compression and fight detonation. but the heads dont flow as well as the other b series vtec heads. its basically a trade-off between the two, compression for flow. but a P&P gsr head is a great way to go. but a good machine shop can shape the type r heads with quench pads too.
