v8 swap???
ok so now after three long months of talkin and talking and doing research....... i have decided tonow dont everybody on here get mad... but i am goin to do a muscle car type with my civic.. i have already made it to dual exhaust and gutted it out for the new repairs.... but simple question i want to do a v8 swap?? how many guys here know what to do about that i mean which engine size or type would be the best? and links will help i have a 1989 civic hatch...... it will be fun i just want the low end burnout speed not all the tuner type stuff. it will be muscle power with the sleek look of a modded civic. so any help is great

RE: v8 swap???
its beeing talked about on another site BUT id say DONT DO IT!!!!! WAY TO MUCH MONEY AND WORK AND KNOWHOW TO BUILD........ a v8 means you need rear wheel drive not to mention back seat driving....
if you realy want a V8 civic then buy a V8 car....... chop the body off and chop the body off a civic and drop it over the top..... OTHERWISE its INCREDIBLY ALOT OF WORK AND KNOW HOW!!!!!
DONT DO IT!

RE: v8 swap???
I'm not familiar with v8 engine sizes, but I doknow thata small-block will fit in a civic's engine bay... I know a guy that put a small-block v8 in his miata. Last time I talked to him, he was in the process ofmodifying the frame so the headers would clear lol
But since you decided to forget about the v8... The best way (IMO) to get low-end torque in a civic would be an engine swap. I know the b20 and h22 are absolute torque monsters. Also, non-vtec motors usually have a little more power off the line than their vtec counterparts (though the vtec make quite a bit more power up top).

ok ya i heard about the h22a i talked to a guy at this shop has i wrecked car with the whole swap in it?? says he'd give it to me for 1200 and will help me swap if i pay him?? does that sound pretty good deal wise? it is used and has like 80,000 which i know is nothing to a honda engine lol

RE: v8 swap???
I say go for it. $1200 for a complete h22 swap is amazingly cheap (and no shipping costs, either!). Swapping isn't as hard as everyone makes it sound (and d/b-series lovers exaggerate the difficulty of an h swap). As long as you have a little mechanical knowledge, you should be fine, especially if someone who knows what he's doing is helping. Just make sure you have the service manual (haynes, chiltons, whatever) for both cars before you start the swap.

RE: v8 swap???
the h swap will end up costing you about 2000 or2500 even with the motor costing only 1200. plus the transmission feel is quite vague. and please people, no H vs. B series weight arguments, lol. because you don't know what you're talking about, lol.
