Default v-tech doestn kick in .....why the hell not???????

i jsut got a new but same motor put in d16y8 vtech......well wheni first got the car back i let loose of it....well my vtech is suppose to kick in at 5500 rpms.......well when driven on the highway i let loose of it and i got to 5200 rpms and it kicked in.but ASA{ it hits 5500 rpms it just vrumvrumvrum.......like its redlining.im like wtf........so i do itin other gears and it does the same thing.so instead of it normally redlingin at 7000rpms its at 5500 now.which means no vtech and a lot of power loss and i have no clue why.............so does anybody know or have an idea what the problem is so i can gain my power/vtech back and whoop on all these other civics *** in my town !

Are people dialing the right number? is your ringer turned on?

In case you haven't realized by now you don't have V-Tech in your car, it's Vtec

What all did you swap?
I'm talking components.
Did you swao anything other than just the engine itself.
What was the reasoning for you to swap motors?

reason for swap was becuase my old motor blew and i got the same motor installed and it came out of a 98 civic ex n mines a 97,,,it was just a basic swap what was on old motor "intake headers, and sparkplugs was put on other motor". and ecu is the original....." i was told about getting a nick sensor " and that should take care of the issue but i dont have any clue
