Default Synthetic Oil?

Just got a 2006 honda civic ex. I've never used synthetic oil before and was wondering if it was worth the extra money. Was also wondering which brand everyone else uses. I hear a lot of people use Mobil 1 synthetic?

in a way yes its worth the extra money. and you can a little longer with synthetic oil, for example 5000 miles with regular oil and 7500 miles with synthetic. i personally use mobil 1 synthetic oil

when i had my 2000 hx civic i ran Mobil one synthetic since brand new to the day i sold it.. But back that it was like $20 dollars for a oil change.. Now days kragens wants $17 for 5 quarts of castrol GTX,,,

Back then i use to change the mobil one like at 3k my dad thought i was nuts.. But that what i did i still do.. I just bought a 99 civic with 35k.. the owner used cheveron 5w30 i open the oil cap and seen no sluge so im going to use that.. $12.99 oil change plus filter.. If you have no sluge i think its a good oil..

Start using full synthetic oil ASAP. Almost any brand of full synthetic is better than the best regular oil.

synthetic oil is much more resistant to breaking down. it is also doesn't have the imperfections that are in regular oil. This means it will lubricate better than and for longer than regular oil will.

I use synthetic in my 98 Civic Hx with the old D16y5 and my swapped B18b. I go with Mobile1 or Quaker State Advanced. I change my oil every 5k running synthetic.
