Which oil grade?

Default Which oil grade?

I live in a very hot place - Saudi Arabia,I own a brand new civic 2006,so can you help me deciding the right oil grade for my car?

what type of oil is in it right if u know. Then maybe I will be able to help u out on the oil upgrade.

your best bet for oil is to go with the factory spec oil it should say in you owners manual

they factory is 20w-50! & some locally made saudi dino(sounds like crap) I am thinking thats why my fuel economy sucks: 19mpg city.

My manual simply says use any API service SL or higher grade oil & select the proper sae viscosity oil according to this chart:

0w-20,ow-30 & ow-40 are given spanning over ambient temperature range -20 to 100 degrres F

5w-30 & 5w-40 span over the same range as well.

10w-30 & 10w-40 span the range from 0 to 100 degrees f.

15w-40 spans from 10 degrees f to 100.

I wonder whats the point of that chart!!??? [&:]

it doesnt recommend any specific grade at all.

help me guys.The guys at the factory are morons(locals) I asked them which grade you use,they said it was 50w!!! I undesrstood it was 20w-50.

BTW-Ambient temperature ranges from 25-40 degrees celsius.
