It seems like the mods wont stop there.......have them use ARP headstuds.....or just put em in urself down teh line

ARP's are worth it, but they aren't absolutely necessary. You can get away with stock replacement right now. The thing is, is that the stockers aren't reuseable (or not supposed to be) becasue they stretch when they are torqued down. ARP head bolts keep the head under compression instead of under tension like the stockers.

By the way, you are gonna need to mix and match the head bolts anyway to get a z6 head on a y8 block. One of the y8 studs is gonna be too short for the z6 head. Also, the cam timing between the z6 and y8 are 4.5* off, make sure you compensate with that cam gear.

Actually this is a fairly common misconception. On a stock [Honda] engine, the head bolts don't actually stretch when torqued to spec; they twist slightly, and release when broken loose. They are actually perfectly reusable 2 or 3 times (just for safety's sake).

this sucks the cam gear won't be here till after the work is done. will it be possible to install the cam gear after i get the head swap done. can it run with the 4.5 degree difference? is it advanced or retarded?
