higher compresion for the type r and more HP over all a lot better engine since its a JDM not USDM. if you have the $$ go for the type r. for example i used to have a usdm b18c1 and it was nice , then i swapped it for a JDM b18c and its even nicer , feels a lot better and responds a lot better that the USDM engine

The engine in the 2000 honda civic si is a B16A2. I doubt you'd be able to get a b18c for any less than $3k. I can't answer your question about the labor costs.
For 2k, you may barely have enough for a b16 swap if you get a great deal on everything you need and do it yourself. Just save your money for now. From what people say on these forums, I gather the b16 doesn't offer that much power anyways.
