B20 Engine

B20 Engine
I'm looking for a cheap B18 engine (a GSR or LS) so i posted a wanted ad. I got 3 replies in like 5 hours. One of the guys has a B20 with a GSR head. This isn't at all what i was looking to buy, but im open to different things. What do you guys think of this set up? The original plan was to get a GSR, bore it to 2.0L and rebuild it to run low compression with a turbo later on. The guy hasn't specified a price, but i told him $500 if i decide to buy it.

RE: B20 Engine
you could get an ls motor way less than a gsr motor....dont have to worry about tuning WITH vtec unless you like vtec.... i bet you could get a complete ls motor swap from a wreched integra at a junkyard for like under a thousand bucks with everything

That is definatly plan b. I know that the LS will be cheaper, but for some reason i'm thinking that the GSR is better. In the ad i put in CL i put GSR or LS. This guy said he would sell me a 91 LS (that works) for 1k, the whole car. But i think i want an engine a little newer than that. So the B20 is a bad idea?

I know that you have to drill some holes for VTEC, but this engine should already have the frankenstein swap already done. I'm wondering what that has to do with high performance. Also, how much power can the crankshaft handle?

RE: B20 Engine
My buddy had a b20 with a gsr head, put a turbo on it (T3) and tried to run 10 psi. Vaccum line caused the boost to spike on the dyno, got to about 18 lbs before it blew the motor up. never even drove it. Don't know if it helps, but thought i'd let you know.

RE: B20 Engine
I've read on some of the other posts on here that the cylinder walls for the B20 are pretty thing and that will cause a problem since i plan on running 20+ lbs of boost. I was also considering getting AEBS sleeves which would allow me to run up to 40lbs of boost but i'm not sure if AEBS makes sleeves for the B20.

the B20 with the gsr head will be a sweet motor.

And Agent, the cylinder walls are thinner than LS sleeves, but only by 1 or 2 mm (if memory serves) so it's really not an issue.
Personally, I say LS>CRV.
