Engine swap and the DMV
Ok guys, heres the thing, I have a 96 honda civic Ex, and Purchased a K20 and mounts and everything. My friends and I are doing the swaps ourselves so that should cut costs. My question is, after we're all done, do i have to take my civic to the DMV and tell em i swaped the engine so i can get a new pink slip or something?
also, will the year of my car change since its a brand new engine? any info would be nice. I really hate dealing with the people at the dmv,

RE: Engine swap and the DMV
depending on what state you live in, it is illegal to swap a motor unless you take it to a state referree. what they do is inpect all emmision stuff. make sure all of your sensors are hooked up. once you pass that they will give you a sticker saying what motor you have in your car. it will then be legal. but w/ the k20 swap, you won't be legal for sure. if you take it to the dmv it will not pass inspection. and also the year of your car will not change. this is what the sticker that the state ref give you. this one is in california:
