my friend has been running 9lbs of boost on an ls vtec with pistons rods and block guards the head has more work done to it but thats it for the bottom and this has been 100% problem free for over 8 months now

Well, it's a good thing he's not running very much boost on it. Boosted motors + blockguards = hotspots, often leading to cylinder warping or very large holes.

yeah i am kind of leaning from b16 more towards ls vtec the price is right and they have a lot of all motor potential

get a b16a they are far from week, if anything some motors are stronger and faster that other one so you just have to hope for the best,as far as getting a gsr the usdm gsr motor is a turd, go jdm all the way. by the way my 1995 vx hatch w/b16a sir2 motor pulled hard from a fully build ls/vtec coupe.

why is the USDM motor a turd? its got less power and lower compression, but is that all youre pointing out? hell, for boost, a USDM motor is pretty damn good.
