Default b16 vs. ls/vtec

I have about 2g to spend on a swap and i was wondering which motor is better for the money. After reading the problems that the ls/vtec goes ive been thinking about it again. Some people also says that the b16 is a weak motor and isnt good. Well give me what you guys think and thanks for your help. I wanted a gsr swap but if im gonna spend about 2-3 gs on it might as well get the whole car, might think of buying my uncles gsr if i dont do the motor swap. Anyways tell me what you people think. thanks

IF you really have your heart set on an LS/VTEC (which I still advise against), please make sure that whoever is doing it has done a lot of them, has a clean track record as far as f**k ups and engine failures, and rebuilds and breaks in the LS first.

But I still say B16A.

I concur with Kappa, because he is smart and I am no so smart. I have heard lots of people say LS VTEC is very difficult to do properly, so I'm going to further agree with Kappa on those grounds and recommend the B16

Personally, Id go with the B16A, they are by now means "weak." Plus Ive heard or read about way too many horror stories involving the ls/vtec. Go with the B16A.

Bro B16a is weak.. Thats just my personal opinion... LS VTEC Sucks if the person thats doing it does not know what they are doing... Both my EG and EJ8 Had Ls vtec swaps Turbo and N/A .. First time is took for ever to get it right and yes i did have **** load of problems with it but once done perfect... 11.3 @122mph on a fully built N/A HB isnt bad specially LS vtec... Its like the other guys say . if you decide to do LS vtec just have someone that knows what they are doing do your motor, other wise if you dont have such person BRO STICK TO B16A... Or just get a GSR Only reason i did LS VTEC was cause we did it from Free LS motors and spare heads i happend to have laying around, if i didnt had that i would have went ITR whick is going im mynew coupe or GSR for the HB

So Good luck on what you decide

get new pistons and rods and block guard and do it right there is no reason the ls vtec is not as strong as the gsr

NO blockguards. Get a proper sleeve job done. You don't need any other things causing problems on an LS/VTEC.
