k20a3
sooo just outa curiosity, how much would a good tranny go for to match the k20a3? along with ecu and wire harness?
local guy is selling a k20a3 with about 35k miles on it for a good price and im almost considering it haha. its a far fetch, highly unlikely i'd go thru with it, but i am very curious on how much i could possibly piece this swap together for.
thanks!

RE: k20a3
if i found a good dealon a block like that, that would probably motivate me to go through the swap. just look around at different junk yards or search sites on the web, something might turn up. i like the idea though, it would match perfectly with you autox "fetish". lol

lol only way i'd even be able to go thru with it is to get a smallloan, tho i'd be able to pay it off quickly i figure. but theres also other parts i'd have to get which i dont really even know where to start to look for lol. believe me its sooo freakin tempting, esp since the only swap i'd ever want to do is K if/when my engine would be done with. i have access to lifts, engine/tranny jacks, all the tools and about a dozen Honda gear heads at work to help me out with it. bahhh

K20 swap, what is all the fuse about? i'm not very familar wit swaps i was considering a h22swap but the k20 is actually cheaper for the engine/tranny combo. How much otherstuff do u have to change?

since when is the h22 swap cheaper than the k20?
and you have to change a hell of a lot more than you think.

I still believe that K-series transmissions don't hold up, regardless of what their fan-boys say. Imo, 200-220whp out of a B-series with awesome gearing is enough anyway, and if you need more there is always turbo Ds and the F series.
To answer your question though k,you'll see cheaper K swaps because they simply aren't as good. Some K20s are good for their blocks only. The rest of the components you'd have to find off other motors to make them worth anything. The good K-series altogether in one swap go for 4-6k (though they can be pieced together for around 3k I think).

RE: k20a3
don't buy the k20a3 unless you can go with the tranny that came with it, or a similar k20 transmission, because swapping in k20s are a PAIN.
they also spin in the reverse direction as B and D series engines.
don't get me wrong though. K20a3s are nice engines, even if they're the "less desirable" units with only 160 hp.
but if you can't get a k20 transmission for it, i think you'd just be better off getting a JDM h22a complete swap from street imports. they provide everything you need, including the tranny, ecu, new axles, wiring harness and even new motor mounts and header.
that, and the h22a, has way more power than a k20a3.
