Default Which engine is best?

Hey all, I'm looking to buy a 92-95 Civic VX/CX and swap out the engine. I don't know much about civics or engine swaps, but I'm learning fast reading this forum all the time. Anyway, my question is what engine would be good on a budget of $2500 shipped for the engine and parts. I'm going to have some friends help me build it up. If I can get an engine cheap enough and find a good body cheap as well, I may turbo it. The standard seems to be a B16 swap, but I want to know my other options as well, and what it would cost. I know most engines will fit most bays, but I want as little stress as possible; for instance I'd rather not have to deal with an H class motor mounting kit unless it really is worth it. Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I have lots of time to figure it out (while I earn some money and sell my old Neon lol). Thanks in advance ^_^

Well, after thinking about it, I believe I will go with a NA build, rather than try for FI. Seems just a bit too far out of my price range to turbo the engine. So again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ^_^

well if you only have roughly 2500 to work with, and you dont have a car. Chances are you should find the best body car for cheap and then put the rest into the engine. Depending on what you want to do.... (some people have their) "want" like turbo'd B series or even D series. Never know, just really depends on what you want to put the rest of the money towards. If you were to put 1000 for a car and the rest for a stock B series swap. Then youll have a pretty decent stock car. you wouldnt need to turbo...... yet.

Well, I actually said I would have 2500 after buying the car, but in researching more the past couple of days, I think it would be best to get like a DX or (if I can find one for a reasonable price) an Si and mod the crap out of the stock engine with the 2500. Apparently you can get a lot of power out of a D, a lot more than I expected at least. I think I'm going to repost in another section.

Go with a D16z6. They're like 500 for the whole swap. You don't have to worry about engine mounts and the wiring is minimal. Then put some money into forged rods, pistons, and headstuds. After that. Boost that b!tch!! Cheapest way to make good horse power. Plus, if you blow up the engine, its cheap to replace!
