d16z6 head on y7
im in the process of buying parts for a mini swap all i need is a d16z6 dizzy if anyone has one that is working and can ship it for under $65 that'd be very very helpful. but the thing im wondering is would putting a blox or crower or and brand stage one cam would be worth the money and what kinda hp/tq gains would i get?? thanks!

idk. i was hoping to not have to tune with a stage one and all the internals are stock. and the ecu im getting for the mini me is chipped and tuned by hand comand for skunk2 intake and exhuast. idk how that will run with everything stock...

I had a Crower stage 2 cam, upgraded valve springs and retainers, all intake and exhaust bolt ons, and the car ran like **** without tuning (99 Civic EX d16y8). Once tuned, it was still slow as *****. Not worth it. Boost, nitrous, or swap for noticeable power in a D series.
Not sure what was to blame, but since the cam came out the rocker arms was chewed up. I installed a bisimoto 2.3 cam and the damaged rocker arm destroyed the cam within 1000 miles. Took that all out, replace the rocker arms, reinstalled the stock cam, and installed a supercharger. Put down like 170whp/150wtq. That was a noticeable gain.

seeing as a y7 makes about 100 horses, doing nearly anything smart, aside from simple boltons, will get a noticable bump. its getting it to make more power without spending a crap ton of money, and not running the risk of blowing it up.
do what you please but if really want to feel and notice a difference without a forced induction system or a baby bottle, put some d16a6 or d16a1 pistons and rods in it for a compression bump, new head studs and bolts, get a mild cam KIT upgrade, y8 intake manifold, get some bigger injectors, and a and spend some money on a tune. period.
(all of the above is possible without removing the block from your car)
the powers there, the d series just seem to take more massaging... the price of which is closer to a massage with a couple happy endings.
that or consider a swap to larger engine (g23 or h22). keep in mind you've got an engine thats less than 200cc's bigger than a large motorcycle engine in a car that weights 2000+lbs.
in short yes that would be "better" but better isnt much when the baseline is a y7, the z6 head alone will probably put a grin on your face if youre used to a y7.
