Top Speed Governor
Not sure if 96+ Civics have it or not, but if they do is it quick to remove the governor and can i, myself do it? Or should a an experienced mechanic do it. Thanks.
*Btw i have a 99civic DX.

I bet you do have one, but I doubt you can remove it. You would have get a chipped ECU (OBD1 only, I don't think you can chip OBD2 ECUs). That's the easiest way IMO.
Didn't we just have a thread on removing the governor on a Civic SI? Remember, you have a DX, it's gonna be hard to push it past 100 mph unless you have a huge stretch of highway. Even though, I wouldn't recommend that since you would be speeding on public roads.

yea good luck hitting the speed governor in a stock dx
but why would you need/want to go that fast on the street?
and you wont hit the governor on the strip

For the record, I'm thinking a dx would be drag limited right around the governer anyway, so you might get 2-3mph out of removing it. So why bother?
Well, that and there's no reason to go that fast, given that you won't hit the governer on a track.

there is a governer its right around 127 on the ex models =[ so you're looking at an actual 115 mph limit
