Default RPM meter jerks!

Hello to everybody,

Need some kind help from you guys.

I own a 1991/96 EG8 1.5 v-tech sohc and use it since year 2000.

Currently i have a problem with the engine.

First problem came when the RPM drop to almost zero when i switch on the air-cond. Sometimes engine also stopped. After changing one part (i'm not sure what is the name but it is located at the back of injection and throtle body), the problem gone.

After that another problem comes.

After sometimes (either car is moving or not with engine on), RPM meter start hunting from 500 to about 1500 RPM by itself. It seems like somebody doing it (don't tell me it might be ghost [:-]).

I've serviced (cleaned) throttle body, changed the spark plugs and did valve tapped adjustment but the problem still exist.

Now it getting worse.

When i try to accelerate and when RPM is reaching 3000, it start hunting/jerk and Engine Check Light ON.

Some times engine stopped by itself (very seldom).

Yesterday i changed the distributor because somebody said maybe it is the culprit.

But, the problem still there and i've loss my money (for the price of distributor)!

Do you have any idea about my problem (actually my car's problem) [8D].

I'm really appreciate your feedback.

What's the CEL code? Anytime the CEL comes on there is a good reason. Take it to autozone (they should read it for you for free) and tell us what it is. Someone here will have the answer, I'm sure of it.
