Default rev limiter

I have a 94 civic ex and was wanting to see about removing the rev limiter. It shuts my car down at 6000 and was seeing if id be rough for tranny if it was removed and how would i go about doing it if it does mess it up.

The reason the limiters there is so you don't rev the crap out of your motor and blow it apart. It's more rough on your engine then your tranny and If you remove your limiter don't expect to keep your motor for long if you're consecutively reving past your motors limits.

If you want to rev higher SAFELY consider new pistons, valvetrain, springs, cam, valves.

If you keep hitting the rev limiter does that hurt your car too?

Im guessing yes but I have actually never gotten near hitting it since I dont have VTEC and I have no reason to Rev it high.... [In My Red EX I would shhift high.... but i was just a crazy driver at the time =/

ive only hit the limiter a few times racing but its definitely not a daily thing maybe once a month just to see if she still has it.but i dont see harm in at lease getting to hit red bar at 7k.

IMO removing it is very stupid! it is there for a reason!
and might i add I HOPE YOUR NOT STREET RACING!

the factory tach is not always that precise so the motor might be spinning faster than it says it is.
BUT if you want to blow up your motor being stupid then go for it. just dont come back whining saying WTF HAPPENED my motor just died...
this has been talked about ALOT and 99% of people that know what they are doing or even know how to do it WONT TELL YOU because its stupid unless you have upgraded the internals of the motor to handle the higher rpm speeds. your original parts MIGHT hold for a few times but it will blow up it would be a ticking time bomb.

I've hit it ONCE because it was raining and was paying attention to my buddies car and not my own. Hitting it once a month is a horrible thing.. I feel so bad for your motor.

honestly what do you think will happen if you can rev higher? You stop making usable hp at a certain point. So lets say you make 100hp(max hp) at 6.2rpms(in thousands) whats the point of reving past that??? If you can tell me I will gladly support you in taking ur rev limiter off, other wise your just trying to blow your engine up. If you even understood how an engine worked, you would realize why this is such a dumb idea....

They're not suppose to unless it's built Rev it as much as a normal B20. Vtec or not.
