PM7 ECU For MY B16a 88-91 civic hatch???
I was wondering does ne one know if this set up is correct. This is what happened. I recently put a b16a in my 89 civic hatch and it came with a pr3 ecu The ecu wasnt throwing codes and the car was just not feeling like it was putting out power. So i went to a mechanic out here and he had a pm7 ecu that he said was chipped with vtec for a b16a. So i bought it from him and the car runs like a champ now. Im just alittle stumped because i thought a pm7 was for a jdm zc. Is this correct? I also didnt know if you can chip a ecu with vtec. Is this true as well? Can someone help me out with so advice. Why does this ecu blow the pr3 out of the water? Thanks.

im not sure what either of those ecu's are from...but if they are "chiped" then its not the same as a stock one any way.....so what prolly happend was he had the ecu chiped with a base map for a stock b16a....and you cant really "chip" it to make vtec work, i belive you have to solder something to somthing else and that allows the vtec to actually work. Then on that chip, you can adjust vtec for engagement and such....hope that answers it for ya.

The PM7 ECU was used (mainly) in 88-91 DOHC ZC motors in Europe and Japan (copied from Google)
hmm, i guess as long as it runs okay dont woryr about it, i know you can wire a non-VTEC ECU so that it is VTEC-enabled, maybe thast what he meant by "chipped". And most any ODB1 ECU can be chipped/tuned for any type of setup i believe. Alot of people use P28 ECU's for they're turbo setups, and P28's are from 92-95 z6's i believe.

RE: PM7 ECU For MY B16a 88-91 civic hatch???
BY THE WAY IT IS A OBDO B16A 1GEN IN A 88 CIVIC HATCH. THE ONLY REASON I CHANGED IT IS BECAUSE I COULD FIND OUT THE PROBLEM I HAD. MY CAR STARTED OFF BY NOT ACCELERATING OVER 3 GRAND ON MY TACH. SO I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO I REPLACED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING U CAN THINK OF. INCLUDING ANOTHER NEW SET OF NGK PLUGS AND IT HELPED OUT. BUT IS STILL LACKING POWER WHEN U STOMP ON THE GAS (POOR ACCELERATION). SO I HAD A MECHANIC TELL ME TO USE THE PM7 ECU AND IT WORKED GREAT BUT THROWS CODE 20 WHICH IS ELCTRONIC LOAD DETECTION. BUT WHEN I USE MY PR3 ECU IT DOES THROW NO CODES. I DO KNOW THE PM7 HAS DIFFERENT FUEL MAPS BUT IM STILL STUMBLED. I WANT MY VTEC... I WANT TO USE MY PR3. HAS ANYONE CAN INTO A PROBLEM SIMILAR TO THIS? THANKS

so the PR7 doenst have VTEC enabled? In the first post you said it was "chipped with VTEC for a B16" and your car runs like a champ on it, but now in this 2nd to last post you said you "want your VTEC". Any why do you want to use your PR3 if your PR7 is working just fine?
and is there any reasn you are yelling at us with all those caps?

THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS CHIPPED FOR VTEC. THE CAR DOES RUN GREAT WITH THE PM7 BUT I CANT HERE THE VTEC KICK AND WITH THE PR3 IT DOES KICK IN BUT HAS POOR ACCELERATION. SO THATS WHY I WAS WONDERING IF YOU CAN CHIP A PM7 WITH VTEC. THAT WAY I KNOW IF THE MECHANIC BURNED ME FOR MY MONEY. iF NOT I NEED SOME HELP WITH MY PR3. IM GONNA SWITCH MY O2 SENOR WIRES TO SEE IF THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. I HEARD YOU LOSE POWER IF THEY ARE BACKWARDS. AND I THINK THE PM7 DOES NOT REQUIRE 2 O2 SENORS. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
