need the right ecu?!
hello, i have a 95' civic but not the original motor, it's got a 94' integra gsr motor and tranny and it's got the chip from the original motor that was in it. my problem is sometime's the vehicles idel will go from 800 to 2000rpm's, sometime's when i start it and drive for about 5 to 10mins and then shut it off and come back a couple of mins later and start it up that is when the idel goes crazy. when i drive for 30 to 45mins and then shut it off and come back and start it up it run's alright with the idel around 800 to 900rpms, my question is do i need the ecu for that motor? will that fix it? or maybe should i check for a vacuum leak first? i've been told i need an obd1 p72 chip for it, is that the right chip? and do i need to buy anything else for the chip to fit right in? if there is no vacuum leak is it safe to assume that i do need that chip? it's non-vtech motor, alright later.

well anyway's i need to know, do i need the right ecu for that motor? will that stop the crazy ideling? cuz wouldn't a vacuum leak cause the motor to idel crazy all the time?thanks

Yes, like I just said, you need to have the right ECU.
You can't start troubleshooting until you get the correct ECU.

there is a pic of the motor
the receipt i got for the motor say's it's a 96'-97' japan spec B18B long block
if you could direct me to a site that would have this right ecu and anything else i would need to change out the old ecu for a new one that would be great
(oh and it doesn't say anything bout being vtec, and I do beleive ur right maybe it's not a gsr, thank's for helping me out on this)

from what i can tell there is no hook up under the steering column for an obd2 and on the front passenger side under the carpet there is a small rectangular box that has wires running from it.hopefully you can get something from these pic's
