Default Keyless entry/new headunit?

Hey, got a question about my 1999 civci EX. I'm in the process of buying/installing a new panasonic headunit, and was wondering about something i read on the internet. I read that when you put a new headunit in if u dont switch some wirew the dome light doesnt work properly, and if you ever want to get a keyless entry for it (like i do sometime) you have to somehow keep the old headunit in ur car hidden behind ur dash or something so u can get the keyless entry to work (still wired of course). I was wondering if this was true, and if there is if there is any easier way to get around it?

thanks, Evan
