i need help about ecu!!

Nonetheless, I really doubt there is any ECU incompatibility given the lack of a CEL code. For example, a D16Y8 has a knock sensor, while the D16Y7 does not. This difference would throw a code.

Ron, that's not entirely true. If he's running a D16Y8 with a Y7 ECU it doesn't matter that the Y8 has a mic attached :-D The ECU won't recognize it.
OP, look up the code of the engine (it's on the timing belt cover and is also stamped on the block) if the engine is a d16y8 than the code on the ecu should be a p2p (I believe). It it's a p2e than it's the wrong ecu for a y8. If the engine is a d16y7 than a p2e is correct...there are other possibilities, but we should start with the engine code/ecu code first.

Gene, I see your point for the said specific example. Thanks for the clarification. For my education, though, what are the key differences between the Y7 and Y8 engines that make their ECUs incompatible yet not throw a CEL?

okay so did no one notice that i pointed out the same thing like 3 hours ago?
anyway
ron, the differences are that the Y8 is basically a Y7 with VTEC parts in it. The Y7 ECU doesn't see the VTEC parts in a Y8 because it's made for a non-vtec engine so it doesn't care, and then everything else appears normal. The only thing is that it won't engage VTEC.
