what the VTEC ECU is looking for is a resistive load on the VTEC line(that is all the silenoid is to the ECU anyway). You would have to pick up a 140 ohm resistor from radioshack and splice the wire at the ECU and connect it to the resistor. The other end of the resistor is connected to ground. This is the info I got from the edelbrock instructions. The edelbrock piggy back takes control of the silenoid and it uses the above method to avoid the CEL from the stock ECU.
