Gas Mileage Isant Right

RE: Gas Mileage Isant Right
wtf im on a little bit above half tank and 97miles. This tank hasant been "babyed" like the last time but no where even close to having a lead foot on it. Ive done just normall driving. My a/c is prolly like 70% as well. I dont think even streight hard driving could pull 16mpg out of a tank thats insane. Could my O2 sensor be bad and just burning fuel like crazy along with the fact that my car needs a tune up?

if u do have a vtec engine wht RPM do laet ur car shift? anyting above 4,000 the vtec kicks in. im sorta a lead foot so its usualy always above 4000 RPM and i get 17.5 with no AC[&:]. i think i need a tune up anyways not sure whn the last one was.

its an automatice non-vtec 1.6L I4, I normally make it shift before it goes that far above 3k rpm just to see what I can get gas mileage wise. Im still only going to get like maybe 300miles out of this tank, I bet you all are getting that and easily going above 4k all the time accelerating.

RE: Gas Mileage Isant Right
i recently had a problem with mileage on my 94 ex vtech
i do alot of highway driving and at 70 i get 5 or 6 mpg more than i do at 80. huge difference. but also my biggest problem, my factory muffler collapsed, and the fiberglass partially clogged the tail pipe, giving me horrible acceleration, and worse gas mileage. I am poor and cheap. so i used a coat hanger and cleaned out the fiber glass, that helped out a lot.
but if you have after market exhaust, you might also check your timing, I need to adjust mine, but i still have to get a timing light. when i accelerate I can smell all the unburned fuel escaping.
