Chipping the VTEC

Chipping the VTEC
I was cruising with my roommate and he was raving about how chipping his audi totally woke the car up. I was wondering if any of you have experience with the Skunk 2 ECU upgrade? What are your thoughts? I'm down to throw one on, I just wanna know what I should be expecting. Anyone have a favorite place to buy them from?

RE: Chipping the VTEC
what kind of car do you have? i can get the chips for you for way less than 200. if you decide to go that route, let me know. Also, chipping VWs(audis included) is not comparable to other cars. the ecus are tuned very conservativly and the chip is more aggressive. on a naturally aspirated honda, tuning the ecu shouldnt make more than a few horsepower compared to the 20-40 seen on relatively stock VeeDub turbos. unless you have a lot of bolt ons you wont see anything astronomical. a better solution is get the cams, gears, fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail, intake, exhaust, header, cat, etc. that you want for now, then get a v-afc and have an import shop put it on the dyno and tune it. sure the dyno time will cost between 100-200 as will the v-afc, but you will get SIGNIFICANTLY more power than just chipping it.

thanks sacicons. I have a 94 civic ex. i'm throwing around so many ideas right now cause i honestly don't know what i wanna do. I've heard the v-afc is awesome. what kinda prices are you looking at for the chip? Is it compatible if i put on a turbo? like i said, i'm just doing some homework right now so i can figure out what i wanna do with the ride.
BTW you don't happen to also do chips for the audis, do you? just curious
thanks man

RE: Chipping the VTEC
you can do a chip that is programmed for a turbo, but dont use a skunk, mugen, spoon, etc. chip with a turbo or you willl have major problems(like a blown motor). the stock program runs a little rich to keep it safe from detonation, so a chip leans it out to closer to stoichiometric(perfect for combustion) and if you run a leaned out chip on a boosted motor it Will detonate and blow. now that i know your motor i will check prices on a chip and ill look into the audi thing, although i dont think i can get them.
