Default help/tips for my civic's paint? (plus shampoo)

hey all, I need some help with my car's paint...

There were some parts where the paint had come off from a ding or something, so I tried to fix them up with touch up paint bought from a Honda dealership, matched directly with the code inside the driver door. However, the paint doesn't match the reset of the car. Is this because I need to add clearcoat to it, or something else?

Another problem I have is a few scratches here and there. They vary, but don't seem too deep. What kind of scratch removers do you recommend, and is the pasty kind better or the liquid?

Finally, I have some places on the car where the paint seems to have faded or been scratched off, but is still smooth. Any ideas to fix those. There are also some random white spots on the paint.

As a side note, I have a carpet shampooer that comes with an upholstery attachment that I THINK can be used on my car's seats. Any suggestions for a suitable car interior shampoo that can work with that machine? I need to get rid of the discoloration and stains since the seats originally were rather light-colored.

paint is always made different. there usually is never an exact match up since it was being made at a later time, but you cant really notice it if you just fill in a ding and dont go overboard. as for the shampoo, i got a carpet scrubber at lowes and used austin's carpet shampoo. it really does the job good. advice: dont use it on your headliner or flip down mirrors, they are held on by a glue that is water soluable (sp) and will sag.

Try taping off the spots that you have touched up and wet sanding down the touch up so it is smooth. They may help blend it a little bit. Plus it looks like your paint is a metallic which is a pain to match.

mr08sports is right, since it's metallic you wont be able to match it painting it on with a brush. As for scratches and blemishes it all depends on how deep. With a scratch if you could drag your nail on it and it doesnt catch, you could buff it out. Blemishes come out too just ad long as it didn't go into the factory basecoat. If you want to get rid of things like that and slowly learn how to buff, get a DA portercable. They are less aggressive than a full on rotary.
