Mine is still stock which is pretty much OK with me for now.

I've got other stuff I'll spend the money on.

2way radio etc.

But the bottom has such a muddy sound,

what is recommended to just (on a budget) clean up the bass.

I don't need to dim the lights, but I do want a cleaner bass line.

No one I've found has a simple amp/box combo that is worth anything.

JCW has an amp/tube combo, but I'll bet they'll be just as bad as the stock. Or worse !

iNTRuDeR-

I would avoid any/all of the "bass tubes" if you want clean sound. They make noise, but not good noise.

as for adding an amp/sub setup to you existing system, I am not sure how to do that. What you could do is buy an aftermarket headunit with preouts to run to an amp. Then get a small monoblock amp and a basic sub. I have no idea what your budget is, so I can't really give many suggestions other than talking to a car audio shop. Many shops have package deals.

Good idea,

I tend to avoid the local shops only due to inexperience.

But they are a good source of info.

Yeah, I'd just like it to sound a bit cleaner, but don't have the bugdet for (and don't reallly want) to $pend a bunch to get the real bass,

just cleaner.

im runnin sum older sony head unit, cheap *** scoche 5.25front door speakers, pioneer 6x8 out back, 700watt lightning audio mono amp, and an old school audiobahn 12" in a 2.8 cube slot ported box tuned to 39.... not much but its enough to shake the table in the house and im happy with it. although the box does weigh a heap.

Well, I am kinda poor so I still got alot of work to do, so I just have a systems that works... its a kenwood mp3 deck, kenwood 220 wat 3 ways all the way around(4 at 6.5) and I am running a rockford 400 watt punch amp with an alpine typeR 12 inch sub in a closed box. Some day it will all be custome, I promise...

ghetto-

sounds like you've got a good start on your system. It's definitely better than many systems out there.

How does your Type-R sound with 400 watts running it?

outsider is right, everyone has to start off somewhere. Intially, I purchased what I could afford at the time (not very good brands) but I wanted something that was better than stock. Now, I research thoroughly to see what is good and what isn't.

ghetto, seems like you have a nice setup and I can imagine how hard that Type R 12 must hit with 400 watts being powered to it.
