alpine like most other brands makes headunits for every price range. You get what you pay for.

The best advice I can give anyone is to not buy audiobahn. We use to sell it at the shop where I work and I really don't have one good thing to say about the brand other than cosmetics.

Okay, before I got my 2004 Honda Civic LX Coupe (two door), I used to a Volvo 940 turbo, 1991. It was becoming a piece, though, always dying. The turbo made it fun though. Anyway, I put a system in it, over a couple of months (money). I had a pioneer headunit (40x4 watts). Replaced the two rear speakers with pioneer (I blew one, they were factory). I left the front two (6") factory. Then I put in two pioneer 6x9's and ran a 200 watt MTX thunder amp to them, so as not to drain the headunit too much. I also had a 1000 watt pyramid amp (it sucked) with two legacy 12" subs. They blew though, so I got some cheap wal-mart subs. They worked anyway. I got a lot of good high and low end sound with all this. Best part, all self-installed after i bought all the parts. It was nice after everything. I only messed up once on the install and I didn't blow anything. I needed a powercap, though. Anyway, long story short, car destroyed in hurricane.

So now i have the honda. This is planned: run 4 gauge wire in a splitter, run 8 gauge out of it. Put in two 760 watt pioneer amps to run to two 12 in" 1000 watt pioneer subs in separate boxes with a powercap. Inside, replace the factory 6x9's with 5-way pioneers. Replace the front with 2 or 3-way pioneers. Then replace the headunit with a nice pioneer headunit (i have it picked out, don't know the type and such). Yeah, i like pioneer, go all one brand. All self-installed. It will be nice.

Old school Sony CDX-M730 (Alpine CDA-9855 on the way!)

Infinty Perfect 6.1 components up front with a JBL P180.2 powering them, no speakers in the rear

Infinity Perfect 12.1 sub in a huge vented box (small sealed comming) with a JBL BP600.1 power it.

I've never heard a system that sounds as dead on accurate as mine. The sound stage is amazing, not having rear speakers really makes it sould like it's comming from where it should be. It can also get mighty loud if I wish.
