Default wire harness

so my dad has an old Alpine stereo in his car, for his birthday I upgraded and got him a newer version Alpine. I went to install it for him, but the wire harness that he had in it, didnt fit the new one.
I thought the Alpine should plug in to either stereo because they are both Alpine.
Any help?

Check www.crutchfield.com and or your local circuit city. Usually they have a plug from the radio to universal - then universal to the specific vehicle.

but circuit city is the only retailer (to my knowledge) that has the smart harnesses, the ones with the universal end. so if u bought ur dad a brand new headunit your just going to have to just solder the harness that came with it in.

yea man try circuit city, they can pretty much order anything ya need. i worked at best buy and they just blow smoke up your *** and tell you cant do anything differnt with wires, if you have the brains you can pretty much wire anything together. if not try crutchfield like the other dude said. good luck

i'm an installer at best buy and you just get a harness, car to smart harness at circuit and cut off the smart partor normal harness at best buyit doesn't matter. and just match the colors of the one that came with the new alpine and the one for the car, and solder them together. its not hard. just match the colors.

oh and also older alpines use a different harness connector than newer ones. so ifthe old radio ismore than a couple of years old, you will have to redo the harness

you should have everything you need, no need to buy anything. you should have the car side of the harness already in the car, and you should have your alpine harness that came with the new deck, so alls you need is to get soldering so you have a nice solid connection.
