any sub is gonna rattle the trunk, get dynamat or tsunamai or any other sound deadening product to help stop that.

and jl audio is a great brand, they make great product and i never had a problem with them, but they are expensive.

dynamat will reduce your rattles, possibly help you with dB, and make your system sound better. but it will just reduce them, not completely eliminate them if you've got enough bass. my 18" wouldn't rattle the trunk per se, but it would move it

It is sad... I have covered my whole car in Tsunami and it works well but my trunk still rattles... It made a big difference, though! I even bought a little strip of dynamat brand to put behind my lisence plate and I dont know if it works at all... I stuck little pieces of the fluffy side of velcro to the back of the plate so it wouldnt click as well... that makes a difference immediately.

JL FTW. I had two JL 10W0s for almost ten years. They were in my accord that got flooded twice and still played fine in my new civic for over a year after that. I love them. Sadly I could not find a new set of 10w0s when they died.

with the best sounding subs.... NO SUCH THING!!!!!! its like hair.... EVERYONE HAS THIER OWN and spreads it everywhere!!!! LOL

if you want to eliminate trunk rattle do a front firing sub like mine tho mines not TOTALY sealed off but close to sealed off... mine just needs to be spray foamed to be completly sealed off to eliminate all rattling... BUT mine is VERY MINOR! if any rattling!!!!!!!! my only noise comes from the breather flap opening and closing.LOL
and only alittle peel and seal product around my trunk lids liscence plate trim piece.
short video i made of mine.

front firing or not, with enough bass it's going to rattle something. bass is air waves moving...moving air waves are going to rattle metal, simple physics

do you hear any rattling other than that little plastic flap moven?
NOPE
as long as your car isnt a piece of junk it shouldnt rattle......
i have minor rattling with the right bass note BUT thats cause i removed my rear deck and i broke several of the clips.... so my rear deck trim panel will touch the glass alittle. but realy minor tho..... hasnt bothered me enough to replace them.... but when i do i gotta glue the clips inplace so they dont pop out again this time and break....

tho thier is a slight downfall with a front firing sub........
basicaly you hear every note from the sub....... so it beter be a nice sub
cause with a rear firing sub which is most typicaly done since the basswave reflecs off the rear panels it absorbes some bad sounds....
and it also somewhat amplifies some bass notes.....
my sub doesnt sound realy good but its not a SQ subwoofer its more of a mix of SPL/SQ so its a SQL sub.
still sounds great most the time but thier are a few songs that just dont sound any good anymore
but then again my port is still somewhat high at 34hz.... if i tuned it at 28hz it would sound beter....

I have always had my subs(and this is after much trial and error) firing up. I have found that this is the best of all worlds. The tone is nice and deep without alot of the crap getting through as with rear firing subs, and you get the punch like you get from front firing.

p.s.
I have tried this in mabey a dozen cars with 8-9 sub and box designs. Just so you know I am not talking out of my a$$. LOL
