ya the brahma.... not that great. they where way overratted and i smoked one myself personally and took forever to get it back and i still had to pay them since they say i blew it but i was under there rms power ratting! total BS refurb deals! they had so many complaints they had to lower there power ratings.
look into REaudio or FIaudio.. FI would be the cheaper now that RE was bought out by MMats so there prices went up!
i myself plan on geting some FIaudio subs either the BTL or afew BL
https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript
still unsure. but im aiming towards two 12inch BLs alittle more so far. so i can kick some @ss in street B

If you took their thermal ratings for the power handling rating (which a lot of people did), it's no wonder you cooked it. I like lower distortion better than I do how loud will it possibly get. Mid 130's while taking up one cubic foot is more than OK by me.

The BTL has the potential to be a loud louder than a pair of BL's with its MUCH higher BL^2/Re, but you've got to have the correct enclosure (size and shape) and enough power to make it worth your while.

FI has been less expensive for ... ever. It didn't help matters when RE got bought by USAmps though.

o ya thats right it was usamps notmmats my bad
before RE was bought out i bought quite a few subs from them. but when usamps got them price almost doubled and you couldnt buy direct anymore.

but yes the BTLs would be louder BUT i dont want to push over 2K watts so 3-4K watts is out of the question to run. so 2 12s BLs should be louder than a single 15inch BTL.
so im pretty sure im going to go with 2 12s BLs.
id love to have another 18inch sub BUT that would put me in street C and street B is far easier to win 1st place in

Why? It's a wasted BTL IMO. They say it's geared towards "SQ", so even if it is a BTL motor with a worse spider pack and voice coil package, it doesn't exactly spell SPL or SQ. Kind of like a bastard child with a cool looking cone. I'll bet you can get similar #'s on the mic with a BL and still have similar SQ...if not better. Ever wonder why an "SQ" sub doesn't have any T/S's listed? Not to mention that "SQ" and handling 1500+ watts doesn't exactly go hand-in-hand.

Prove to me otherwise.

The SPL #'s will be pretty decent, but nothing near the BTL. If the #'s are close, so will be the lack of "SQ" that SSA is supposedly saying they have designed the XCON to be based on. It doesn't take a 50+lb woofer to get good SQ.

With zero published T/S's and the only thing linking the XCON's to the BTL's great SPL #'s with supposedly an "SQ" base, I'm not giving SSA the benefit of the doubt on anything. Hell, they lied (and continue to do so) on the ICON's Xmax, so why should we belive them on anything else? They claim 20mm, but it Klippel'd at only 16mm. Yey SSA still claims 20mm. Qts and almost all other figures were way off as well. You can be off with Qts based off of the suspension compliance (+/- 10% is acceptable), but when you're off almost 100g of moving mass (SSA claims 212, when it Klippel tested at 300) and have a huge variance of BL (that should remain constant as well - or within tolerance of 10%) of a published 16.4 when it Klippel'd at 20. All would be OK if the Qts went down with the addition of the extra moving mass but it actually went up when Klippel tested from a published .42 to .50 actual.

If you're willing to accept the hype generated from a manufacturer that continues to lie about Xmax (among other things), then knock yourself out. I, for one, have a hard time with it.

PS: You can see the Klippel results here, and their published numbers here if you want to take a look for yourself.
