Default Watching in dash dvd player without the parking brake pulled up

HEY GUYS I HAVE A QUESTION.. IS THERE A WAY I CAN WATCH A DVD WITHOUT HAVING THE PARKING BRAKEPULLED UP ON MY IN DASH DVD PLAYER?? CUZ ONE OF THE WIRES FROM THE SYSTEM IS CONNECTED TO THE NEGATIVE PARKING BRAKE WIRE.. I TRIED TO DISCONECTED THE WIRE SO I CAN WATCH IT WHILE DRIVING BUT IT WONT WORK PROPERLY UNLESS ITS CONNTECTED TO THE WIRE.. IS THERE A WAY TO GET AROUND THIS??

if its just connected to the negative parking brake wire you could just try grounding it to a screw. The only reason it works when it's connected to the parking brake is because the negative wire on the p-brake is "open" when not pulled up and "closed" when pulled up... so if you just ground the dvd player to a screw or a negative wire that is always "closed" it should work all the time. I hope this helps.

Like I said before it SHOULD and yes any screw will do, but it'd be better if it was screwed into metal not plastic. I don't know much about the dvd players themselves but as far as electrical principles go I'm pretty good. Try hooking it up to a screw under the center console those are usually metal on metal. It's the grounding wire so as long as it isnt hooked up to anything with power flowing through it (+ or normally red) you could hook it up to any black ground wire also. Try it, the worst that could happen (supposing it isn't hooked up to a power source) is the dvd player won't turn on.

just make sure you have a solid ground and use washers to keep it tight so you don't ever have to tear apart the counsel again, i'll have my video system in next week, so we want pics
