personally if you want the best sound either kenwood, ***pioneer***. crisp clean sound and strong bass.. cant go wrong with any of these two brands. boston acoustics are also good only for speakers tho.

my opinion alpine type R best bang per buck,
but hell we could talk about whats the better sub all day long forever and it will never be settled. if your in doubt go shop around.... check out some stereo shops and do alittle sampling of what they have hooked up on the demo area...

JL subs are expensive because the hype, the quality of build..... and the sound the produce.
The build quality is the best in the industry. the materials they use are like no other and they use a clean enviornment u have to wear special stuff to go inside the factory, just google something like JL audio factory tour or something.
the type Rs to me arent good for SQ at all.... i mean yeah they sound good but they dont compare to the polks i have in my civc. nobody believes that i have 2 10"s they think im running 2 12"s because how low they can go... and i have them in a sealed box.

ummm pioneer subs are complete ****. and kenwood isnt great either..... JBL makes some solid subs, the Better MTX subs 7500 and up sound good and hit HARD. ummmm Eclipse makes some solid subs.

Before all is said and done I am going to get a pair of 10" RE SEs, put them in a sealed box, and power them with my Crossfire BMF-1000d @ 1 ohm. That is a next year project, so for now it is just the DD1010!

SEs are suposed to be pretty nice more sq sub. but i myself like more spl/sq mix. i used to have the 2 12inch SXs and they pounded in my truck. only sub i liked more was a single 18inch REaudio XXX that thing was insane! but so was the box it needed to pound.LOL 8cubic feet for that sucker and that size box in a extended cab truck was nuts.LMFAO
tho i do wish i never sold it... not as impressive as the new XXX model but still dam good.
but now that REs prices skyrocketed ive ditched the idea of having any new RE equipment. maybe there spin off company FIaudio is still decently priced at least and ive wanted to try out a fully loaded BTL 12 or 15 as well.
