RE: Subwoofer hookup
I have blown speakers before when I had Pyle Drivers in the late 80s. Switching to Kicker Comps solved my problem, even they too were slightly overpowered by about 150 watts RMS. IIRC all of my 12" subs were rated for 300 watts RMS and I was giving them about 450 to 500 RMS each.

Its ok to overpower them by a little, but you will always risk blowing them if you wanna show them off and turn it up high. Id rather be safe than sorry and ive had my system working perfectly for over 6 years

#1 if u have an amp that can produce 1000 watts, and a sub that is 350w RMS, u can use that amp without overpowering it and blowing it.
#2 Gain does not = volume
#3 Clipping is more often the cause of blowing a sub than overpowering it... clipping can come from pushing an amp too hard, therefore u are better off with extra headroom in an amplifier, than less, and pushing ur amp to its limits.

WORD!!!! it's nice to see someone knows what there talking about......
i't's actually easier to blow a sub with a amp thats too small verses a bigger amp..... more power = more control
i've run 1800 watts RMS on a single 12 and have never had a issue....

No you'll just overload your head unit that way, there isn't enough power there. You need a seperate amp for the subwoofer.

ur not going to overload anything..... ur just going to hear 0 sound because there isnt enough power. speakers dont pull power.
