I'm thinking about installing subs into my 2000 4 dr. LX. I don't want to wake up the neighborhood, just add a little punch to the bass. What kind of wattage would be the best? Where should I put it, and what brand is the best?

ORIGINAL: Chimera02EX
Infinity 8" Kappa Perfects. prolly get 1 for about 125-150. Power it with a Infinity 311a amp. it'll pound but you won't hear it outside your car, you'll feel it, but not hear it.

And may I ask where you are getting those?

Yeah I hear ya on the fact that you don't want to wake up the neighborhood. I'm going for SQ in my car, not blasting loud bass that overpowers everything and makes your ears bleed. I also like punch added to my bass so I went with one 10" sub and I haven't ordered it yet, but I'm getting a Kenwood Excelon 2 channel amp which I'm going to bridge. It has adequate power (500X1 watts RMS bridged) and the sub is 400Watts RMS power handling. It's a Diamond Audio D310 BTW. It sounds VERY good, especially for the price you get it for (you can find them for 100-150, dual voice coil, rubber surround, all the good stuff) I would stick with 8 to 10 inch whatever you get though, and if it's a more powerful one like the one I have, then only get one sub.
