Default Sub and Amp question

I have two 10 inch subs (pioneer impps) in a box, and in the middle, there is a board seperating them (so each sub has its own amount of space).
I looked at the back of one of the subs, and it said 500 watt max. Im wondering what kind of amp I need?

Could I get a 1000watt amp, and have it running them both, or would I need a 2channel amp, running 500watts each?

NEVER go off of MAX ratings!

its either NORM which it says 250watts... or others say RMS

so youd want a amp thats ruffly 500watts RMS

since those are dual 4ohm subs and your running two you can wire them to a MONO amplifier that puts out 500watts RMS at 1 or 4ohms....
or ya could use a 2channel amplifier BUT a mono amplifier will usualy use less power to operate... class D amplifiers are just beter expetialy when your stock alternator only puts out 70amps. LMFAO

just check for RMS ratings at 1 or 4ohm load....

funny thing is i just trashed 2 of those subs afew months ago.LOL old subs my friend le tme keep her old subs.... and i got tired of looking at them.LOL

it is preaty easy... just one thing to remember to do FIRST!!!!!!!!! when instaling the power wire for the amplifier FUSE IT RIGHT NEXT TO THE BATTERY!!!!!
if you DONT put a fuse thier you risk burning your car to the ground!!!!! dont skip the fuse or cheap out on it!!!!!!
but most 8gauge kits should work fine for your 600watts amplifier BUT if you ever plan on upgrading...... id go ahead and run a 4gauge amplifier kit... beter with a larger wire for headroom.... just dont run the wire near anything that moves or gets hot and youll be fine!
tho personaly id stick with a brand name amplifier.... hifonics is preaty decent priced amplifier, or like a old jbl amplifier i have a BP600.1 that would work great with those subs cause it puts out max power at 2ohms or 1ohm... THO i dont wanna sell mine.... sorry... i like having a BACKUP amplifier just incase i have a amplifier problem i wont be without bass

If I were to get two 15s, would I need to upgrade my battery? Today I saw some friends cars, and thought about getting some 15s instead of my 10s. Im just wondering what all I would need to do if i got the 15s

only problem with running 15s.... is sqwishing in the box for them.LOL first make sure you can FIT a box into the trunk before buying the subs

but no matter WHAT size the subwoofer is it doesnt effect anything with the cars electrical system.... your amplifier is whats pullen the power... and it will push no more power to a 8inch sub all the way up to a 18inch sub or larger.LOL

Alright, thanks for the help. Im still thinking about what to do. Im really wanting to get some 15s, but I dont want to spend alot of money. Im wanting to use my subs right now, and I dont have a whole lot of cash right now. Im just going to get a amp for now, and be saving for some 15s.

Also, Im going to be recovering my sub box. It is very dirty, and I dont like the carpet, so Im covering it with some material the same grey color as my interior.

well if i might sugest KEEP SAVING.... that way you dont change your mind on the subs and the amp you bought doesnt match up properly...
so just keep saving and buy it all at once.... cause like trying to put together ANY system.... youll probably KEEP change your mind until ya hand over the money or click PAY NOW.LOL

been thier done that! i used to switch out my subs/amps every few months.LOL it gets expensive thats for sure! but then again its trial and error. but i havent swaped out my equipment as much as i used to. but im still in the process of switching out the sub and the interior speakers as well.

2-12" good quality subs in a tuned ported box will do great. 15" subs usually require a box thats 2-3 times bigger if tuned/ported. WAY TOO big, unless you want to fill your trunk.
