Default Stock speakers with new head unit? Problems?

Hey, my car does not have a cd player, so my mom said that she would spend up to 100 dollars on a head unit for the car. if i got a decent one, would the speakers sound bad or blow or anything. i think the one i want is 22 watts x 2 or 4 channels? anyhow, i already have some new subs and a power amp for them. do you think my stock speakers would blow or sound bad with that head unit? im not trying to make the ultimate sound quality here, i just dont want it to sound really bad. any advice would be great, thanks a lot.
