Speaker Re-foaming

Speaker Re-foaming
I bought a pair of Jl 10W6 I guess the foam must have been brittle, when I hooked them up to my Kicker 600.1 and it crumbled the foam and blew out the cone on one. Im wondering if refoaming works, it only cost $23 on ebay for the foam repair kit. Has anyone done it before, let me know how you guys feel.

I refoamed a set of old Boston 10s and a random 12. Both went well, but you have to know EXACTLY what you are doing, prep your surfaces PERFECTLY, have the right glue, etc. Those were just home audio speakers. For a car application with higher powered subs, +1 on sending back to JL. It'll cost more, but it is guaranteed to be done perfectly. Unless, of course, you want to risk ruining the speakers... I got mine for free, so the risk was minimal.

definatly send it in for repair...... if it was a new subwoofer then your settings are really screwed up!!!!! if the box is ported you probably overextended the subwoofer driver and need a amplifier with a cross over that has a subsonic filter to help prevent over excursion... or your just pushen to much power to that sucker.... not sure....
the box size could also be a issue...
