Taking another look at it, I believe it is the same head unit as the one my girlfriend has. It's ok. Somewhat frustrating when it comes to using the "equalizer" that it has (you know, the low, mid, highs)other than that it works ok.

It's all up to you
go to best buy or some place to test different head units
otherwise i'd be surprised if you noticed a difference
They will all read CD data the same, it's how their equalizers, voltages, and other things work to give you the sound that should be important
as for interface sony's should be pretty easy to use but don't offer as much as other CD players

My Sony works fine, it's an old one, the cdx mp40. It's easy to control if you read the manual, and this thing's been in the car for 3+ years so I know it's good quiality

a lot of people seem to hate on sony and i really don't understand why. I have one similar to the one you just bought and i love it. I don't have any trouble controlling lows mids and highs at all. In the EQ settings, I can go to custom, and then adjust low, mid and high individually. It also has 3 levels ofDSO (idk what this stands for) that raises the high and mid and seems to make them come out clearer. It also has a subwoofer level setting which is great and a lot easier than having to install a bass **** in the car. My sony headunit sounds great, and I have friends that have pioneer and I actually prefer my sony over their headunit.
