Default RMS vs. Surface area??

i cant make up my mind here, im either getting one 12 with 450 watts RMS with an amp that uses all 450 watts RMS

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mJb9afI...520&I=218RSD12 ...sub

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mJb9afI...20&I=489HA1000 ... amp

or 2 of these 10's pushin 250 RMS with an amp that is gonna push it to 240 RMS

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mJb9afI...520&I=1081050W ...sub

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mJb9afI...20&I=489AP1000... amp

now from my little understanding, the 12 is more powerful, but does that mean its only gonna be good when its really loud cuz its 1 subwoofer?
or are the 2 10's gonna sound good at all volumes but dont get very loud because there is 2 of them?? which one will shake my car better??? lol

somebody plz help me out!! lol

wattage is your friend, but what you should also look at is SPL (or Sound Pressure Level) and Dba (decibels). Personally I think I'd go with more wattage to a single 12" but thats just me. I'm anything but a stereo pro!

more surface area is good but im not sure if the 10's will go lower then 1 12'.Depends on what kinda music you listen to and all that cause the 10's i would think are more for rock and stuff like that cause they are more tight. But then again ive heard some 10's that have just wanged before so it all depends on the setup.

i'd go with the 2 10's personally, they would have to try less to acheive the same sound level and they will have better sound quality.

well the music is mostly all rap/hip hop stuff so i guess the 12 would make more sense, but they are havin a buy 1 get 1 free deal on those infinities in a 12 inch too, if i had that same amp (link i gave with the 10's) would they still sound good? or is dividing the wattage up between 2 subs bad for power??? this audio stuff confuses the living **** outa me lol

The 12" will give you slightly deeper bass.

Depends on the subs. There's much more to look at other than size and power rating. Most importantly... sensitivity.

and something that you really need to do is make sure that box is built for those subs and not just sticking them in a prefab....that can make a HUGE difference.
