Default RMS Ratings and questions

My subwoofer is a Kenwood KFC W3012..Which is 1200 Watts Peak Power and 400 watts RMS and is 4 ohms. And i am only get one of them.

Will this amp be perfect for it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

PEAK/DYNAMIC power handling ratings mean nothing fyi.

No, that amp will under power the sub, and it's not ideal because its a 2 channel amp.

And 2 channel means you can plug in 2 inputs ..1 channel means i get 700 watts..2 channels= split the power to 350 watts x 2

Sorry but the mechanic is wrong. Maybe it isn't his fault, but he is wrong. It is 350 RMS bridged at 4 ohms, but its a Crunch amp so I highly doubt it actually puts out its rated power (but probably not way below it). Anyways, yes that amp will work, but you won't quite be able to get the sub to its full potential.

It's not ideal because 2ch amps tend to cost more than mono amps, and since that Crunch amp is an A/B class, it is more inefficient than a mono class D amp. Which mean it will put more of a strain on your electrical system (although for this little power it probably won't matter too much, just something to keep in mind)

2 channel means it has two channels, so it can do stereo output to speakers, which is useless for subs. Technically, you can hook up as many speakers as you want.

Don't know where the whole "1 channel means i get 700 watts" thing came from. If you get that amp and only use one channel, you'll still only get 87.5w RMS or whatever (again that 350 means nothing since its a PEAK rating, and it's for a 2 ohm load). If you bridge the channels, then you'll get your 350 RMS or so. Maybe you know this and I'm just misunderstanding you lol.
