Default Remove Honda Tape Deck in a 98 Civic?

i recently bought a sony headunit for my 98 honda civic which has keyless entry. according to the directions from crutchfield, i have to hide the oem factory radio behind the dash where the power outlet is so i can still use keyless entry. problem is that i need just a little more room for the factory radio to fit. to give me the much needed space i gotta remove the tape deck. does anybody know how to simply remove it so i got more room to work with?

You have to pull the console and remove the plastic trim to get to the tape deck. After that, remove the two screws on each side of the tape deck and slide it out of there.

I pulled my tape deck and cut an ABS plate to go in the place of it. Of course my reasoning was different because I didn't like the look of the tape deck. I have an aftermarket head unit along with an aftermarket alarm.

ya its easy to remove the lower tape deck. just a wire plug on the back of the radio and pull the console and cupholder and pop that sucker out of there..... only downfall will be you now have a empty pocket down there....
