mine is a cobra radar, but all i do is turn the volume all the way up, and as jprommel said, radars only detect cops that are actually scanning or have their speed gun on. here's a link on yt on how radars work; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m_Ta...eature=related the actual process is explained about halfway through the video. hope this helps.

My radar setup is a background in law enforcement and knowing my roads. I know where all the state troopers hide.

Like the others said, the police try to avoid detection. The days of leaving the radar on and snoozing until the speed alarm sounds are no more. Now they have to work for it. You can generally ignore X band, really only antique radar guns use it.

also if you get hit with POP you're essentially screwed, because its a quick pulse and they've already nailed you. but the thing about POP is it's not nearly as accurate as say the Ka band or just K so you can fight it. The way they get past this is POP first to get an estimate so once you get POPed slam the breaks because they will then try to switch to another band to get a more accurate reading. So, if you break before they switch they'll read at a slower speed.
