Default question about hooking up my amp

i currently have a rockfordfosgate amp in my trunk powering my 6X9s and i recently bought a MRP-M1000 for my subs and im going to hook it up this weekend and i was wondering if i could somehow split the 8 gauge wire hooked up to my rockfordfosgate and use it to power both amps?

You need to run a new wire. 8 gauge is not big enough for a 1000 watt amp. I would leave the original 8 gauge in place and run a new 4 gauge just for the new amp.

^+1 that size amp needs its own 4 gauge wire. don't be cheap or you could risk melting that 8 gauge wire. just go get you a new 4 gauge wire so that you will get every bit of power that is possible out of that amp.

What outputs does your head unit have? If you're running the 4 main speakers on an amp and also have a sub, you really should have a head unit with 3 pairs of RCA outputs (front, rear, and sub). If you do have such a unit you may need to go into the menu to turn the sub output on and adjust the sub level.
