Talking Power Issues

Hwsit peepz,

I have a 2007 Honda Civic Sedan. Recently installed a 12" Woofer with 2000watt monoblock.
Problem is, everytime the bass kicks the lights dim out everywhere.
The battery is very small and there isnt much room for a bigger 1.
Im clueless trying to solve this.
Other problem is the whole back panel rattles. lol
Suggestions any1?

Thanks

Look into buying a capacitor or a higher output alternator.

a capacitor wont help much. its just a bandaid on the problem....
since you cant fit a larger battery under the hood then you should get a high output alternator that puts out more power than your stock alternator.
a high output alternator will fix your problem with ease.... you just need to upgrade the wiring from the battery to the alternators charging wire and the ground wires from the battery to the motor. with at least 4gauge wire.

your lights are dimming becuse your alternator cannot keep up with the power consumption of your car and stereo!
you can see the voltage gauge if you have one dipping down. or get yourself a voltage gauge and watch the voltage go from 14.4volts down to 12volts with the bassnotes.

I recommend a high output alternator with a second deep cycle battery in the trunk. At a minimum, the OP needs a second battery in the trunk. Worst case, he can recharge it every few days with a battery charger if his stock alternator can't keep up with the charging.

The reason I recommend this is because a local shop did that same exact solution for a Memphis 1500 watt amp connected to a 12" Alpine Type X sub in their 2007 Civic Si. In 2007, it wasn't exactly easy to find a HO alternator for the Si.

well you can also check locally for a alternator/starter shop that can build you a hotter alternator. dep[ends how much power ya really need if they can build you up a hotter alternator.

my local guy does a pretty good job.

What is the 12? and what 's the amp?

google The Big 3. that should help. If it doesn't get rid of it, look into the previous posts suggestions

Upgrade the Big 3, upgrade your factory battery AT THE LEAST, get an HO alt, and then if the problem persists, get a second battery. I would grab an upgraded battery (they make upgraded ones in the same size as your current battery - check out PowerMaster, Stinger, Kinetic) and upgrade your wiring first and foremost.

Look at this website for sound deadening to stop at least some of the rattling:

And do you really have a 2000w RMS amp? J/w....
