Legacy "Blue Diamond" 3.0 Farad Digital Power Capacitor - $25
thats a really good deal and this is what you need if your lights dim when the bass hits
it takes the strain of your electrical system
that is a good deal. well, i'll see how everything works once it's installed. i WAS hoping to get it done saturday, but i was looking at the wrong calendar date, i wont have my sub until the 4th.. doh! i wish i had picked up a 10" at fry's while i was there, just to test out the set up.. then take it back. oh well... i'll keep an eye on CL in case something cheap pops up.

anyway, this is what i ended up getting:

Metra AK8 8-Gauge Amp Kit - $24.99

http://www.frys.com/product/5890953?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Crunch P1100.2 1100 Watt 2-Channel Amplifier - $79.99 on sale

http://www.frys.com/product/5537220?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

EFX SE10 10" Single Subwoofer Enclosure - $34.99

http://www.frys.com/product/5485329?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

And the Sub that's arriving Aug 4th, Kenwood KFCW2512 - $67 shipped

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-sA2kX4Z...KFC-W2512.html

So, I went just over my 'budget' of $200. I'm lookin forward to hookin it all up to see how it sounds.

and that farad i posted up keep that in mind if your system dims
and dont max that amp start low and adjust. let the amp do the work not the stereo it will sound alot cleaner
are you installing this yourself or having someone do it for you?

im installing it. ive done a few cars now... always did my own (3 of them, last one already was wired up), and did a couple friends cars in the past.

i'll see how the 10" sounds.. i just wanted something to fill the low end in, not wake the neighbourhood.. i used to love huge bass, and i still do, but i dont want the attention it attracts anymore.

as long as the 10" hits hard, tight and can keep up with fast music, i'll be happy.

that kenwood sub will be decently clean. I think the sub sounds good at lower volumes. but if you try cranking it i don't know how well it will hold up.

Unfortunately there is no real way of me knowing just how much bass you want, so i can't really tell you if it will be loud enough for you or not, but as long as you don't run it way too loud and keep it within its power handling, it will be clean and fill the low end fairly well.

Rockford Fosgate makes good subs i have two 12" in a sealed box with a 1500w amp no cap a Pioneer head unit and four pioneer speakers, and it sounds quite decent. Not a fan of anything kenwood. Kenwood makes **** everything including head units. I woulndt personally buy anything kenwood but if its what you want and its all you can afford then go for it. But do keep in mind you get what you pay for. Majorty of the time the more money you spend on something means better quality and better sound.

To 94civic, he does NOT need a cap if his lights are dimming. He needs to do one or more of the following

the Big 3
HO alt
upgraded batt

Ej6 is completely right. About everything....at least right now

I hope that amp lasts and doesn't go up in smoke...make sure you set up the gains correctly, and everything else. If you don't know how to do that, there's a bunch of writeups on car audio forums.

The lights were dimming on the MX6.... that's long gone man, I haven't even installed this stuff in the Civic yet.

Marine_Civic, care to elaborate why you think everything Kenwood is ****? Just saying it doesn't make it so... I'm quite happy with my HU so far, no complaints. The improvement in sound quality compared to the Alpine HU that was in there before is quite apparent, and that's just running the same speakers as before. Plus, I happen to like the way it looks as well... though when the sun is shining directly on it I can't see a damn thing. I only paid $100 for it because it was discontinued.. it was originally $229.

Kenwood HUs are fine, but all their other equipment is mediocre......

The more you spend does NOT equal better sound quality, i'm not going to say it again, lol.
