I have a 1997 honda civic lx. I was wondering whats the best place to go through the firewall? Does anyone have any pics? If anyone has any suggestions for me that would be great. Sorry if i put this in the wrong section i'm new.

 

if u just stick your head under the dash with a flashlight u should be able to see a good place, look for a big wire gromet that u can feed the wire through. worst case scenario is you have to drill through the firewall and use a bushing to protect your wire, just be sure there isnt a brake booster or anything on the other side of where ur drilling, if it is an automatic you can drill through the blank that covers where the clutch hook up should be.

 

ok i foung the wire gromet but there is no room to put a wire through. do i have to cut some of the rubber around it in order to stick the wire through?

 

best place to hide the amplifier wire is to run it RIGHT under the battery... thiers a wire grommet under the battery with a bunch of wires in it thats going straight down...
BUT to be safe about it. you must locate the wire harness from inside the engine bay and ALSO under the dash from the inside of the car... that way you know exactly WHERE the wires are bent to top and botom... then with a razor blade or sharp knife make a cut thats about 1/4inch from the bunch of wires and slide the wires thru THEN with some silicone seal up that cut area for a water proof gromet again...
just be sure NOT to cut into those wires!

o ya and to get to that gromet you have to remove the battery and then unbolt the battery tray brace.. cause that wire grommet is right under the battery box.



i always recomend doing it thier because thats the best way to HIDE the wires and ALSO keeping the wires as short as posible....
other wise you have to run it to the drivers side of the engine bay to use a empty gromet in the fire walll BUT then you have just waisted about 5ft of wire and drug it thru the engine bay which just looks tacky in the engine bay!
