LOCs are not " vampire clips "its a Line Out Converter , it hooks up to your speaker wires and makes speaker signals into RCA signals for hooking a amp to it -- picture below --

you don't have to buy a radio to hook up your system , granted it would be 50 times better because with a stock radio you only get bass and treble , but with a aftermarket radio you get more control of your sound

well wats a good aftermarket stereo that isnt 2much but still good, gotta pay for college haha, will my other after market stereo fit in there from my old car??

umm there is most likely an aftermarket piece for the new deck to sit in, i can call my supplier via tomorow and find out for you!

 

go to crutchfield.com they have adapters that u cna put a new deck in ur 07 civic just like u would in an old one without all that inegrated stuff on the dash... and the sound quality of the deck doesn't matter if ur getting an amp cuz the amp completey bypasses the amp on the deck so if the amp u get is good quality and the deck is of the worst quality it will sound good.

 

you can get radios from 100$ all the way up but if you stay in the 100$ to 200$ price range then you ll get a good quality radio with preamps for your amp , you can evan get a radio that has multiple preouts ( more then one amp hook up )

basically there are allot of radios out there so pick the one that looks the same and works for you like one with a MP3 player or one with satellite radio

if you go to best buy look for the pioneer and alpine line ( they carry allot more but these are good quality and low cost radios )
if you go to circuit city you can get a pioneer , Panasonic and jvc line ( they carry allot more but these are good quality and low cost radios )
the above stores will install them for you for free all you have to do is pay for parts , if you buy parts from them and say u have a problem later on they will get you new parts with no charge , if you buy parts else where and bring it to them they will charge you more . there about 10-20 dollars more the you can get them online

 

the amp requires a low pass filter ( bass with no words ) so if you get a radio that has sub outs then you can control not only the subs gain from your radio but also the MHz KHz so you can listen to it the way you want , most radios have built in crossovers that are graphic so you can see the adjustment and they made it easy for customers to use

so if you use the stock radio then you'll have the gain on your LOC to do the work and then your adjustments on your amp , but a aftermarket radio will extend that option and give you more , so in general you will get better sound guilty with a aftermarket radio rather then keeping the stock radio and hooking up a LOC
